This county's survey is completed. If you have any information as to whether or not a particular school district has the category "affectional or sexual orientation," please contact us. The survey process is an ongoing project subject to change and corrections. The chart below contains the replies to the survey as to whether or not the school districts' nondiscrimination statements contain the category "affectional or sexual orientation."
Of the 19 school districts in Somerset County, 5 were Yes, 13 were No, and 1 refused to answer. 1 - The nondiscrimination statement does not contain specific categories but does refer to the district policy that includes "affectional or sexual orientation." 2 - The original letter of inquiry with an enclosed stamped postcard was not returned and with over ten telephone calls no answer was forthcoming. Therefore, it is assumed that the district refuses to reveal their nondiscrimination statement's status. 3 - No categories listed in a general statement of Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE), but there is a list in their policy containing "affectional or sexual orientation." * The protected categories may or may not be engaged by the school districts with Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) statements. EOE is not to be presumed to include "affectional or sexual orientation" by any particular school district's philosophy and/or practices. A general statement such as this is limited to employment. The students and community encompassing the district are not within a general declaration, necessarily. Additionally, "affectional or sexual orientation" is not a part of affirmative action.
